On Friday afternoon 25 May 2018, intense fighting broke out at Moria camp, leaving many people injured. A group of around 70 refugees, including many families with young children and several injured people, fled the violence and found refuge in a park in Mytilini. Some injured people were transferred to the hospital by ambulance.

This role sits in the Fundraising team within the Lesvos Solidarity (LeSol) team. The fundraising teams’ role is to engage, educate and publicise the work of LeSol to raise vital funds for our work. The Fundraiser works with the fundraising team, board members and the team by helping with communicating about our work to grant making organisations.

Refugees, Greek islanders and activists today called on European leaders to heed their plight in a flash mob on a beach on the island of Lesvos symbolising the spirit of “refugees welcome”, organized by Amnesty International and Lesvos Solidarity.

ex -PIKPA camp, which hosts vulnerable refugees, is under threat of closure. It has been one of the best examples of solidarity in action.
The threat of closure is both an attack on solidarity groups and part of the EU/Turkey plan of detention, deprivation of liberty & deportation.
We must resist.
